Frequently Asked Questions
Q: WHEN DO YOU RELEASE APPLICATIONS FOR YOUR 2018 FOOD MARKETS?
A: Applications for food markets will be available approximately three months before the start of each market. Holiday market applications are released in late Spring.
Q: WHEN WILL YOU BE LETTING PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT WHETHER THEIR APPLICATION IS ACCEPTED FOR 2018 URBANSPACE HOLIDAY MARKETS?
A: We send out acceptances and rejections on a rolling basis. Holiday market vendors will be notified about their application status by July 20th. If you are on the wait list, we may ask you to join us at the markets anytime between July 20th and September 8th.
Q: HOW DO I RECEIVE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT MARKETS?
A: Please create an account with us, fill out a vendor profile, and select which markets you are interested in hearing more information about. We send out emails alerting vendors when new market applications are released. All applications can be filled out online. You can view all open applications by logging into your vendor account, and selecting “Apply To Market”.
Q: WHAT ARE THE BOOTH SIZES OFFERED AT THE MARKET? HOW ARE THEY CONSTRUCTED?
A: Urbanspace offers half booths, single booths, and double booths. At our holiday markets, full booths are approximately 9’10” wide by 5’10” deep. Half booths are approximately 4’10” wide by 5’10” deep. Double booths are either 18’8 wide by 5’10 deep, or 10×12, depending on placement. If you are a first time vendor with us, we advise against applying for double booths.
Dimensions are slightly different at our food markets. If the market is strictly a food market – like Broadway Bites or Mad. Sq. Eats, the booths are approximately 8’10 deep, but the walls themselves are 5’10 deep. This way vendors can build out counters or display cases that can be pushed back in the evening, or have more room for equipment if needed. Single sized booths are approximately 9’10” wide by 8’10” deep, and half booths are approximately 4’10 wide by 8’10 deep.
We cannot currently accommodate food trucks or retail trucks at either of our markets. We can accommodate carts at our food markets.
All booths have carpeted raised wooden floors, and 3 inch think wooden walls that have a 1/4 inch luan facing with studs placed approximately every foot or so. You can screw into the walls, but we recommend against hanging heavy, weight bearing shelving. All booths have a roll down tent flap, which can be secured by a deep throated padlock. We also have overnight security at all of our markets.
** Booth size information does not include Bryant Park kiosks.
Q: HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT VENDORS WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE MARKETS?
A: As the longest running market operator in New York City, Urbanspace has worked with 100s of vendors to launch unique and dynamic business and restaurant concepts, which the public has enjoyed for the last twenty years. We like to strike a balance between bringing back favorite vendors that our customers look forward to seeing season to season, and featuring new buzzy food and retail concepts that compliment the market’s already diverse selections. For new vendors, we look for original concepts, thoughtful branding and merchandising execution, and experience as an operator.
Q: WHEN WILL HOLIDAY MARKET APPLICATIONS FOR 2018 BE RELEASED?
A: We will be releasing Holiday Market applications in Spring 2018, and will be due in early June! Once the application deadline is passed, you can apply to get on the waitlist for those markets. We do pull vendors into the market from the waitlist every year!
Q: HOW CAN I TELL YOU MORE ABOUT MY BUSINESS?
A: Fill out a basic vendor profile on our website, upload photos of your products, and update your business’s description. Once you do this, you’ll receive more information about pricing. We only release pricing information to vendors who’ve filled out a vendor profile with us.
